Biography

Orin Zimmerman spent more than 30 years with Portland General Electric Company working in operations, distribution engineering, and management positions, including general manager of Marketing, Conservation, and Energy Management. Zimmerman was founding Director of the Electric Power Research Institute's (EPRI) diverse world-class end-use R and D activities with emphasis on cutting-edge advanced technologies and applications.

During his 20 years at EPRI, Zimmerman's positions included program manager, department director of Energy Utilization and Conservation Technology, and technical director. In 1969 he completed Stanford University's Executive Program. Zimmerman served 16 years on the National Electric Code Committee, and was President of NW Electrical Inspectors. He has served on the State of ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ's Energy Research Committee and has authored numerous papers on the subject of energy use.
